You have this dream that you really want. It just lights you up when you think about it. But every time you begin to think about really going for it, all you see is other people’s suffering and it just feels like your dream is just so selfish. Your thinking has somehow gotten twisted in thinking that going for your dream will actually make other people’s suffering worse. You know this is not true intellectually, yet, you find yourself feeling so selfish at the thought of really going for it. What do you do?
In this article, I’ll share why going for your dream is actually the answer to the suffering in the world.
- Realize that you and your dream are the answer to someone else’s prayers
You have a dream. It feels like it is just inside of your head and that you thought of it. But it didn’t come you, it originated from the very source of life itself. You are divinely appointed to bring your dream into form. Your dream is the way you bring a greater degree of good into the world. In fact, you are picking up the prayers of people who are praying for exactly what you offer with your dream.
Now, this is easy to see if you are building something like a business. But what if your dream is for a house or a car or a relationship or even for a healthier body? That dreamtoo is issued from the divine. Others are looking around to see if there is anyone else who has done the same thing they want to do. They want to see that it is possible. As you live into your dream in a life-giving expansive way, others see you and are inspired by you. They see that in fact, they too may be able to create the thing they want. - You discover and develop gifts and capabilities that allow you to contribute more effectively. Remember, the purpose of your dream is to grow you into an even more magnificent version of who you are created to be.
As you make a decision for your dream, you make a decision to grow into this next amazing version of you. You develop skills, capabilities, awarenesses that cause you to be even more present to the people around you, to serve with a much greater level of intention and presence no matter what the task and to see more effective ways that you can make a difference. As you do this, your very presence helps people transform their suffering. - When you live your dream, you create rather than destroy
.Howard Thurman, Martin Luther King’s mentor, once said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”When people are living their passion, they live from a state of love, abundance and a much greater awareness of our brothers and sisters all around us. When you are busy living out your Divine Purpose in the form of your dream, it is impossible to act in destructive, harmful ways. Instead, you naturally deepen your appreciation for life and your companions along the way, which, by the way, is all of us.
People act out in unskilled ways when they are unhappy. Destruction comes from a lack of purpose and a sense of unworthiness. When you live your dream, you are living from the very core of your being Itself. That means your actions expand good, rather than take away from it.
The way we support others with living out their passion and dreams is to live on our own. The more people in the world that decide for a life that they love just makes for more love in the world. When you live your passion, you give those around you permission to live their passion. Then dream by dream by dream, together we build a world of deep compassion, abundance, joy, and well-being.
To your wildest dreams,
