Why Resolutions Don’t Work
Every year, you wake up on January one, ready to do it differently this year. This is the year you will lose weight, be a better parent, spouse, friend… You make resolutions swearing that you are going to keep them this year.
A week, 2 weeks, 6 months down the road, they are just ancient history and you are filled with regret, frustration and wondering what the heck is wrong with you.
Sound ohhhh so familiar?
Well, here’s hope.
In this video, I share why resolutions don’t work and then, what to do about them.
Here they are in bullet form:
1. Lack of clarity. Very few people can describe exactly what they want and explain why they want it. You want a very clear picture of what you want in your mind so you can build heat around it. You also want to have a very compelling reason as to why you want it to keep you moving when the inertia sets in.
2. You don’t trust the new yet. You think a new result will be better but you just don’t know for sure. So you keep going back to what you know. This is why reason number 1 is so important. The clearer the picture in your mind, the more you can see the benefits and the more you trust this new possibility as being better than the old.
3. Lack of support. There is so much research that shows how important it is to have people around you that believe in you and your ability to change and can show you how. If you could do it on your own, you would have by now.
Share in the comment section the thing that you would love to change this year so we can all be your partners in believing with you.
Here’s to your dream,
