What does it take to start an airplane?

What does it take to start an airplane? I found out first hand while waiting on airport personal to start our airplane when waiting on the tarmac in Chicago. They start it with a machine called a huffer. The first one didn’t work. Neither did the second one. The third huffer was the charm. It got hooked up, the engines ignited and off we went.

It was stunning to think that there was this airplane that was fully capable of taking off but needed something to get it started. Once the engines were ignite, we were able to take off!
