The Time I Almost Fell Off the Cliff!

Recently, Michael and I took an extended weekend to go do what we love to do which is mountain biking.

We headed north to Flagstaff and found some new trails to explore.

One of them was rather gnarly. In fact, it was beyond a level I have ever done. It was narrow, steep and rocky. All of those can be a combination for a really rough ride.

About ten minutes in, with my heart pumping from exertion and fear and after a scary moment when I almost fell over in the direction of a steep cliff, I started debating whether or not I needed to let Michael know that I just wasn’t up to the task.

But there was something that rose up inside of me and I said, “NO!” I can do this.

I knew I would just have to take it a bit slower and maybe walk my bike in some areas.

I also knew that the only way I was going to improve was if I challenged myself to grow my strength, my balance and my trust in myself and my bike.

I kept with it. As I went along, I could feel myself getting more comfortable and confident and towards the end, whizzing up hills oblivious to the cliff on my side.

I am by no means an expert because of that ride, but I am stronger, more skilled and more confident.

I share this with you because this is how your dream works.
