The Heart of God

The Heart of God

Do you ever wonder where God is? Jeremiah 31:33 gives one of the most beautiful promises in the Bible. It reads, “I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

God wrote her law on our hearts. In other words, God placed herself upon our hears. What a powerful image.  I invite you to stop what you are doing right now and drop your attention to your heart center and see the law of God that is written there.

So, you may ask, “What is God’s law that is written on my heart?” God wrote the law of love on our hearts.  God wrote the law of wholeness on our hearts. God wrote the law of justice on our hearts. Take a moment and feel the reality of all that God is designed into your heart. When we want to know God and all the qualities of God, we have God’s promise that all we have to do is to look into our own hearts and see God there. When we look into our hearts with an ear to hear God, we hear God’s wisdom and guidance.  We rest in the assurance that God is in us and we are in God.

Take this passage into your time of mediation and contemplate its profound promise.  Cherish the treasure of your heart and the law that is written upon it.

Thank you, Rev. Felicia! That gives me something concrete to grasp in those times when I’m desperately asking, ‘Where are you?!’ And truly, where else would God be?
