From our mouths
Continuing with the theme of watching what comes from our mouths, I read Matthew 12:33-37 today where Jesus talks about how we will be known by our fruits. He says, “For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. the good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure, brings forth evil. I tell you, on that day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak.”
Wow! It really does not get any plainer than that. Everyday is judgment day and we can see the results of our careless words, thoughts and actions all around us if we are willing to notice. By the same token, we can see the results of our words of thanksgiving and love. Our words really do create our world.
So, what kind of world do we want? If we want a loving world, then we speak words of love. If we want an abundant world, then we speak words of appreciation and gratitude. It is not a tit for tat-it is the law that the Universe will mold to our deepest held beliefs. By choosing our words carefully, not only do we send out the energy of love and thanksgiving, we fundamentally change what we believe about our world, ourselves and our God.
I invite you to try it. Take a day and commit to speaking only words that reflect what you truly desire. If you mess-up, just start over. Then come back and report how it went.
