Break the Sneezing Habit!
This morning my dog Daisy and I went hiking. Along the way, Daisy was busy sniffing the tall grasses we have as a result of the rains here in Southern California. After a few minutes of that, she had one heck of a sneezing fit.
Then, when she was all done sneezing, she put her nose right back into those same grasses and starting sniffing AGAIN! And of course she started sneezing, AGAIN!
She could not see the connection between that act of sniffing grasses and her sneezing.
This was such a great example of what so many of us do when trying to change our results. You have a result you don’t want. You may complain about it, bemoan it, wish it were different, but then you keep doing the very thing that created the result in the first place.
We all have habits and those habits create certain results. You may or may not be able to see the direct connection between a habit and a result but it is not important that you see how the two are related.
What is important is your ability to see you living your dream. The way to change a result is to go back to your dream, imagine yourself as the person living your dream and then note the kinds of habits he or she has. You don’t have to go looking for bad habits, instead, start paying attention to the new, empowering habits that your dream demands.
As you do, your old, disempowering habits will jump out like sneezes. But, now you see how you can replace those habits with ones that will move you forward instead of keeping you stuck.
No longer will you be like Daisy, sticking your nose in tall grasses and expecting not to sneeze.
Share one habit that you know you will let go of in favor of a new habit that matches your dream in the comment section below or on my Facebook page.
Here’s to your dream!
