5 Proven Ways to Boost Your Confidence
This amazing idea or opportunity comes your way. You think about it and you sooo want it. But you find yourself doubting your ability, your worthiness, your deserving. So you hesitate and let the idea or opportunity slip through your fingers. Then on top of missing out, you feel disappointed in yourself. You wonder, why did I do that to myself? After all, look at everything you’ve done before. Why does this particular idea or opportunity have you frozen?
The single most powerful element that can stop you in your tracks is a lack of confidence! When you realize that you have everything you need to create and that you are one with a Power that knows all things, you realize that it really is just a matter of having the confidence in your ability to achieve what you really want. The good news is that there is a way to build your confidence that promotes action, so that you can take the necessary steps to activate you incredible ideas and accept opportunities that come your way. This month, I am dedicating my focus to the second step of my proven DREAM success formula. That is, Relate to your results.
Here are 5 ways to build your confidence and achieve desired results:
Step 1–Understand and respect the power of the paradigm
Remember, there is that in you that calls you forward. That is your Life Force inviting into your dream as the way for you to discover more of who you are and whose you are. Then there is the gravitational pull back to the familiar. In fact, the part that is so attached to the way things are will fight like crazy to keep you stuck in the status quo. When you can see it for what it is, it’s much easier to sequester your fear and lack of confidence, and move toward your desire.
Step 2–Celebrate your lack of confidence as good news
Know that when you imagine something so much more expansive than anything you have ever known for yourself before, there will certainly be push back within you. But I encourage you to recognize that this push back is actually good news. Your doubt is an indicator that you are on the edge of something so much more magnificent than anything else you have ever known for yourself before. It means that you are courageously considering a bigger, bolder idea or opportunity, a bigger and bolder you. Celebrate this, and you!
Step 3–Stack your previous wins
Go back through your life and track the other times you made bold moves in the face of not knowing how. You know how to do this. You just sometimes forget in the heat of the new opportunity. In fact, you are brilliant at taking bold steps in the face of not having all the answers. The very fact you ever learned to walk, or ride a bike or drive a car are all pieces of evidence that you have the ability to start a new venture in the face of having no idea how. Use the memories of these times as fuel to grow the confidence you need to help you act on the idea or opportunity.
Step 4–Do it awkward and afraid
A key piece of building confidence is being willing to start something before you know how. This is why Step 3 is so important. When you remember all of the times you accomplished something in the past that was bigger than you knew yourself to be, you’ll see that you can do it again. You become more willing to go forward even though you are afraid and uncertain. Competence breeds confidence. The only way you build competence is by becoming willing to take action before you know exactly how to do it. You are willing to start where you are and grow from there. You see yourself building the skills and competencies required, and you see your confidence grow. Also, as you do this, you grow your confidence in the Laws that create our results. As you apply everything you learn from my Facebook Live broadcasts, you come to trust that there is something so much bigger at work in and through you. Soon you’ll be able to rest in complete confidence, knowing that this power is at work on your behalf; you’ll begin to trust that the Universal Laws and the Power that breathed life into you are at work with and for you.
Step 5–Fall in love with the idea
Napoleon Hill talks about having a burning desire. If you are going for something new and scary, you want to be so in love with the idea that you can’t imagine life without it. This new idea or opportunity requires a Soul Force commitment to do what is required to be successful. As you fall in love with the idea, you become willing to do some things and feel some ways that you are not willing to do if you only kinda, sorta want something.
BONUS Step–Enlist the help of a partner in believing
You are not meant to do this alone, and you don’t have to. Look for someone who has done what you want to do and enlist their help. Having someone else believe in you is such a powerful confidence booster. And please include me in that group, as I know that the very fact that you have the idea means you have everything within you to make it your 3-dimensional reality.
You have an idea or opportunity comes you way. You want to go for it, but just feel frozen in your tracks because you lack the necessary confidence to really go after it. Here’s what to do: understand and respect the power of the paradigm, celebrate your doubt as an indicator that you are on the edge of a more magnificent you, stack your past wins as evidence that you can succeed in the face of not knowing how, fall in love with this bold new idea or opportunity, and get support from trusted friends and colleagues and a mentor.
Now let’s see you step into a more confident you!
