3 Ways to Create Balance During the Holidays

3 Ways to Create Balance During the Holidays

Put the happy back in happy holidays.

Do you find yourself struggling to find balance during the holidays? You want to do it all, but find trying to keep up is taking the “happy” out of “Happy Holidays.”
 What do you do?
In this video, I share 3 ways to find balance during the holidays.
This is a magical time of year and it is possible to fully appreciate the festivities and the times of connection with loved ones and friends. It comes down to you making decisions about what is most important and making sure you put yourself at the top of the list.
Follow these 3 simple steps to create more fun and ease during this amazing holiday season.
1. Give yourself permission to not do it all. I know that may sound a bit blasphemous. But the reality is you can’t do it all and keep your sanity. There are those things that are really important to you and then those things that you like. Make a decision to choose only the things that you LOVE.  For example, let yourself choose an evening curled up in front of the fire with your partner or beloved fur baby with a cup of hot chocolate and a great movie in place of that party you were invited to by a friend of a friend.
2. Use your calendar as a tool for transforming your holiday experience. Lay all of the events out on your calendar. Then step back and pay attention to how you feel in your body when you look at it. Pay attention to the places that light you up and those places where you just feel yourself literally caving in with fatigue just at the thought of doing that event. That is your Life Force talking to you and it will never lie to you. You want to pay attention to that. Now, that may mean choosing to take care of you even if someone else is expecting something from you. Know that as you make a decision for you, you are actually supporting yourself in being able to love those around you even more because you are not so tired.
3. Let go of perfectionism. We have this image of how the holidays are supposed to go and what is expected of you. This time of year, more than ever, LET THAT GO!!!!! Know that you can enjoy the holidays just as much by admiring your neighbor’s decorations without you having to do them if it is not fun for you. Use the benchmark of easy and fun when deciding to do something. Keep asking yourself, “Is this easy and fun?” If not, then let it go or do a bit that feels good.
