10/16/13 – Weekly Words of Wealth – Pushed or Pulled?
A short time ago, I stood on the beach where the pilgrims landed on December 26th,1620. I imagined what they thought and how they felt as they stepped out of that tiny craft that had been their home for weeks and onto this vast land ripe with possibility and potential. They were pushed by discontent and pulled by a vision of a freer, more expanded life. They landed in an area that seemed uninhabitable and impossible to tame. Yet, with determination, a willingness to do whatever it was going to take and the help and support of the native peoples, they forged a life and a new nation. They created a nation where we all have the opportunity and freedom to create a life that we dream of and love.
This week, I encourage you to ask the question, “What is my Plymouth Rock?” “What small life am I stepping out of and leaving behind so I can step into my new expanded version of a life that I would love?” Spend some time defining this, imagining this, getting support and taking action. As you do, watch as your new territory expands in ways that you can only imagine.
Here’s to your Plymouth Rock,
PS: Going to be in the Bakersfield area? Then join me at Unity of Bakersfield on Sunday, October 20th when I present my book, “Do Greater Things: Following in Jesus’ Footsteps” as the Sunday service and afternoon workshop. I hope to see you there.
