How To Stay Focused On Your Dream
Recently, I had a client ask, “How do you stay focused on your dream when there is so much pain and suffering going on in our world right now?”
Here’s my answer. You stay focused on your dream because you understand that you living your dream is the way that, together, we will transform our world.
We as a society are in a period of major upheaval in terms of our structures, our beliefs, and our actions. The events of the past two months in particular invite each one of us to deeply examine our own interactions and perceptions of one another and of life.
The tendency in times like these is to hunker down and protect our own. There can also a tendency to broad stroke blame whether it is on a group of people, an ideology, a politician or a system.
Now, more than ever, the world needs our ability to stay present and focused on Universal Truths that are always operating. We can look back throughout history and see how chaos and upheaval led to times of greater awareness and possibilities for everyone. As we each take a stand for love and for the transformation that is seeking to express through each one of us, we can hear what is ours to do in any and all times.
It may seem counterintuitive but your decision for your dream as you live a life that you love is your greatest contribution. As you discover what is deeply meaningful for you and you make a decision to live out that passion, you are making room for a much greater degree of love to express through you.
In order to live into your more expanded version of you in the very practical form of your dream, you must reach down and access dormant gifts and capabilities in order to grow and develop them to be able to succeed at your dream. You must learn to recognize the good that is already present in you and your life, to learn to allow more good in your life and to live from a place of deep awareness of an Invisible Power of Love at work in and through you always.
As you say yes to your heart’s desire in the form of your dream, you discover more of who you are capable of being and share your even better version of yourself with the entire world.
Howard Thurman, Martin Luther King’s mentor, once said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
When people are living their passion, they live from a state of love, abundance and a much greater awareness of our brothers and sisters all around us. When you are busy living out your Divine Purpose in the form of your dream, it is impossible to act in destructive, harmful ways. Instead, you naturally deepen your appreciation for life and your companions along the way, which, by the way, is all of us.
The way we support others with living out their passion and dreams is to live our own. The more people in the world that decide for a life that they love just makes for more love in the world. When you live your passion, you give those around you permission to live their passion. Then dream by dream by dream, together we build a world of deep compassion, abundance, joy and well-being.
This truly is how we create the Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth.
Here’s to living your dream,
